Pimp my ride! The lowrider community of Los Angeles – in pictures | Art and design

A lowrider is a customised car with a lowered body. Kristin Bedford was drawn to the Mexican American lowrider community in Los Angeles, and discovered that customising a car reflects decades of political, cultural and creative self-expression. Gypsy Rose is the most famous lowrider in the world and was created by the late Jesse Valadez in the early 1970s.
