The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine has announced that it will never run for elections under the guidelines of the Oslo Accords, Sana News Agency reported on Wednesday.
Speaking to Al-Quds TV, Islamic Jihad representative in Lebanon Ihsan Ataya stated: “Islamic Jihad will take part in the Palestinian National Council (PNC)’s election if they were held far away from the Oslo Accords.”
Ataya said that his movement’s delegation to the national dialogue held in Cairo proposed a: “Palestinian reference for the parliamentary elections based on the PNC’s charter, not the Oslo Accords.”
He added: “We will never be part of a body that recognises the Zionist state and does not believe in the right of resistance, which is guaranteed by international law.”
Meanwhile, he stressed that his movement would not be an obstacle ahead of the Palestinian factions taking part in the elections.
“We are exposing the facts for the Palestinians and telling them that the elections will lead to a never-ending dark tunnel,” he expressed.
He also confirmed that the Islamic Jihad Movement: “Does not see the parliamentary election as a solution to our problems, an appropriate exit from the dilemma of the Palestinian cause, and it will not unite the Palestinians.”
Ataya hailed the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance, stressing that resistance is the only way to liberate the occupied land of Palestine.
